Seems kinda silly to me
Posted by: SamanthaS on July 1, 2010 at 5:34PM EST

Ran across an article online today about this fashion designer who has created a line of "designer diapers" for Pampers. The designer, Cynthia Rowley, has come up with 11 styles for both boys and girls that will be sold in Target stores and on their website. Some of the offerings for girls will include ruffles and madras. For the boys - a back diaper pocket.

Is it just me, or does that seems like a dumb idea? Rowley is quoted as saying, "As a mom, I wanted other moms and dads to have more options in every part of their lives -- even diapers." I understand options are important when it comes to sizes, materials and prices - but we are talking about DIAPERS here. The kid poops in them and then they are disposed of in the trash. Plus, aren't you supposed to dress your kid in clothes, thus covering up the diaper?

Also, I imagine these disposable designer diapers will be more expensive than plain white ones. To that, I say what a waste of money! Here's a thought - the extra money you would spend on these fancy Pampers, put in a college fund for your little tike.

Maybe I'm being too practical, but I just think this is a silly use of resources. There are better ways to spend your extra money - that's assuming you have extra cash. Kids (I'm told) are expensive!

What other silly products for sale have you run across lately? Share them in the comments section below.

Haha, no kidding Steve C! Or at least change your own diaper.

They have to keep up with Huggies that just started their "jean diapers"

Yeah, I just picked up a box of the Huggies blue jeans diapers. Same price as the regular ones, you just get 60 diapers instead of 64 for around 20 bucks. They ARE kinda cute.

Have you all seen the new Huggies commercial for the blue jean diapers? Little boy strutting his stuff like Rico Suave. Cracks me up every time I see it.

Designer diapers look really cute under a little dress and it's nice for summertime - baby can run around in just a diaper and a tee.

Because I'm also practical (and a mom), I agree with Sam. Waste of money if you're buying diapers all the time.

However, I totally get it. I love cute diapers. And babies LOVE running around in just diapers. So do moms (no clothes to wash).

Because I am practical, don't like spending money, and LOVE cute diapers (and to answer Cal's question)...

I use cloth diapers on my toddler. They're way fancier (better) than they were back when I was a baby, they're adorable, and in the long run save a lot of money and time (running to the store to buy diapers), and they're adorable. I use www.fuzzibunz.com.

oops. i said adorable twice. Obviously I love them. That said. If these diapers are the same amount of diapers for the same price, I'd totally buy them when I buy backup diapers to keep on hand (if I didn't buy Luvs, which is bound to be cheaper than Pampers any day)
